Hello,
I'm David
Portrait of David

I’m an experienced UX/UI Designer who codes. My unique balance of left and right-brained strengths has proven successful in turning research and analysis of user needs into elegant, intuitive solutions. I believe that solving users’ problems is a skill, but identifying and solving problems they haven’t yet realized they have is a gift. Let me put that gift to work for your organization.

Please scroll down to explore some of my projects.

iPhone with SimpatiGo App on Screen

simpatiGO is a restaurant, cafe, and bar search app that provides curated, location-based recommendations compatible with the user’s profile of tastes and requirements paired with their current needs.

I was the lead on a two-person team that designed the app as a final class project.

Accessing the Bright Learning Portal, employees stay up-to-date on learning opportunities, register for in-person sessions, access e-learning modules and handouts, and engage with other employees and the learning team.

The portal is built on the SharePoint platform with a completely custom, stylized interface integrated with the robust data capabilities of the platform, allowing learning team members to easily track, update, and publish content through familiar library interactions.

My pics blog allows me to use two of my passions, photography and web design/development, to highlight the interests and experiences that make up my life.

I designed and developed the site as a Front-End Development course assignment and utilizes basic HTML and CSS skills.

Amenities Seat Hanger

There were three objectives for the seat hanger I designed for my ride-share passengers: to introduce myself, alert them to the amenities offered and encourage them to provide ratings and feedback (and hopefully a tip 😉).

A benefit of displaying the hanger is that it shows a level of professionalism and attention to detail that sets me apart from other drivers that impresses passengers and has led to higher ratings and increased income.

Visual Quick Project Books

I authored five books in the Visual QuickProject series for Peachpit Press, a leading publisher of technology books and videos for creative people. Challenges inherent in authoring the books correlate to the series title:

  • Visual – heavy on graphics and light on text
  • Quick – small books of 112-128 pages
  • Project – guiding the beginner to create an entire project from start to finish

Four of my books focused on Macromedia (now Adobe) Flash, the web animation and interactivity tool, and the fifth was on Apple’s desktop publishing application iWork.
